Next to Washington & Lincoln, I rank Theodore Roosevelt right up there among the great presidents. I believe my mayoralty, if elected, would be similar to Roosevelt’s presidency on a much smaller scale, of course.
Roosevelt was a statesman, instrumental in bringing peace between Russia and Japan; a conservationist, he instituted the national park system in the United States; and he was tough, he busted up the big monopolies and trusts of his time. He didn’t let the voracious press get the best of him and successfully fended them off. If my candidacy leads to an upset election victory in November, and if I could be half as strong as “Teddy” Roosevelt, my mayoralty would be a success. That’s my hope.
